Updated: 18 hours ago

We are delighted to issue this Call for Papers for our Fifth Annual Conference, which will take place on June 24th and 25th, 2027 at Georgetown University Law School in Washington, D. C. The event is generously sponsored by Professor Stephanie Barclay, the Georgetown Center for the Constitution, and the Georgetown Institute for the Study of Markets and Ethics.

We seek papers that philosophically engage with/analyse/critique the law and/or concepts applicable to the conceptual analysis of law. Papers that are up to 9,000 words (including footnotes) will be considered. Submitted papers must be fully anonymised and include an abstract of up to 250 words.

We are working in partnership with the journal Law & Philosophy, which will publish the selected papers, subject to peer review. If a paper is selected, the author(s) agree not to submit the paper elsewhere until a decision by Law & Philosophy is communicated.

The conference will be pre-read. Participants will be selected through a competitive, peer-reviewed process to include a mix of junior, mid-career, and more senior scholars..

The submission deadline is October 26th. We will endeavour to contact selected authors by the end of January 2027. To submit a paper for consideration, please use the following link: https://app.smartsheet.com/b/form/019f8f71c14c727489c6ff115ce2443e

(Note: submissions by authors who were featured in our last two conferences - 2025 and 2026 - will not be considered)
