It is with great pleasure that we are sharing the news that the The Collective: Women in Legal Philosophy is holding its 4th Annual Conference next summer, on 13th June 2026. Next year's conference will take place at the Law Faculty, University of Oxford and will be sponsored by the University of Oxford and the University of Illinois Law and Philosophy Program.
The keynote lecture will be delivered by Prof. Sophia Moreau, Samuel Tilden Professor of Law and Professor of Philosophy, New York University. The title of Prof. Moreau’s lecture is Role Obligations within Unjust Institutions.
Call for Papers
We have an open Call for Abstracts, with three papers to be selected for pre-read discussion at the conference. Papers should engage law and philosophy, broadly defined, with a preference for analytic philosophical methods. Papers may address any substantive or procedural area of law. Papers will be selected through a competitive process, based on blind peer-review of abstracts, to include a mix of junior, mid-career, and senior scholars.
Abstract of approximately 500-750 words should be submitted through this link. Abstracts should state a clear thesis, and sketch the structure and substance of the paper’s argument. The deadline for submitting abstracts is 15 November 2025. Decisions regarding acceptance of papers will be communicated in January 2026.
We are also delighted to announce that we are working in partnership with the prestigious journal Law & Philosophy, which will publish the selected papers, subject to peer review. If a paper is selected, the author(s) agree not to submit the paper elsewhere until a decision by Law & Philosophy is communicated.
Please do share this CFA widely. We are very much looking forward to this event and to getting as many of us as possible together once again!
